Artful Artist:
The Artful Artist role can be quite unique! If a student selects this role, they are required to create some graphic representation of the text. This simply means that the student is creating art that relates to what they read. The students can draw a picture, create a collage, make a bookmark ... the list really could go on! |
In Our Classroom:
Here is the activity sheet that students will pick up if they select this role for their literature circle!
An Example:
Stories can mean many things to many different people. So, art becomes the perfect medium for students to illustrate the vision they had while reading the book or other piece of literature.
A commonly used activity used among artists is the Artist Trading Card. However, this idea can be flipped and fitted into reading, making them Literature Trading Cards! A student will take a 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 inch piece of paper, or playing card, and decorate it to reflect their ideas about a piece of literature. Students are not limited to a specific medium. They may paint, paste, use glitter, add buttons, add rhinestones, color with markers, crayons, pencils ... I would list more, but I digress! |
Here, I have created 3 cards based on a certain preassigned reading selection!
